Rachel Jeon

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Government at The University of Texas at Austin, specializing in international relations and political methodology. My research examines how firms, governments, international institutions, and transnational activists shape the governance of international investment, with particular attention to gender, labor, environmental, and human-rights concerns.

My dissertation, Three Essays on Nonmarket Governance in International Investment Regimes, studies how social and political conditions influence foreign direct investment, how nonmarket provisions are incorporated into international investment agreements, and how activist pressure affects multinational firms. I use mixed methods, including large-scale data analysis, natural language processing, interviews, and fieldwork.
